Elmira, New York, September 7, 2021: The Libertarian Party of Chemung County was represented during the meeting of the Chemung County Legislature on Monday evening by Craig Colwell (Vice Chair) and Nicole Colwell (Secretary).
During the public comment period, Nicole Colwell commented on the use of masks by children in schools in New York State and challenged the Chemung County Legislature to stand against them. Her comment can be read in its entirety here.
Craig Colwell made a comment encouraging the Chemung County Legislature to limit the scope of executive overreach in Chemung County by reminding them that people deserve to have a choice regarding masking, shut-downs and mandated vaccinations. His comment can be read in its entirety here.
Joe Brennan attempted to discuss his resolution regarding disallowing the use of Chemung County funds to offer vaccine incentives to the general public. Christina Sonsire proposed tabling the resolution until the Legislature had more time to consider the matter. After a vote, the resolution was tabled until a later date.
The Libertarian Party of Chemung County wishes to make it clear that we are against mandates of any kind. We will continue to stand for liberty in Chemung County and fight for the freedom of choice with regard to these or any other related issues.
